About the Committee

The Birth of a Beylik. The Dawn of an Empire.
The Quriltai of Osman Ghazi takes delegates back to the uncertain yet ambitious dawn of the 14th century, where a small Anatolian principality stands on the edge of greatness. As the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum collapses and Byzantine authority wanes, Osman Bey — the leader of the Kayı tribe — calls together his most trusted beys, warriors, advisors, and family members to determine the future of their fledgling beylik.
-Agenda Item
As the influence of the Seljuk Sultanate fades and the Byzantine frontiers weaken, the Kayı tribe under Osman Ghazi faces a pivotal moment in its history. The agenda will focus on determining the future direction of the emerging beylik: including political consolidation, military expansion, tribal unification, and the formation of lasting administrative and cultural institutions. Delegates will be expected to evaluate the challenges of leadership, legitimacy, and survival while laying the groundwork for a principality that may one day grow into an empire.
