About the Committee

The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) is the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly and is responsible for addressing matters related to global peace, security, and disarmament. DISEC serves as a platform for member states to collaboratively discuss and propose solutions to pressing international threats, including the proliferation of weapons, regional conflicts, and the misuse of military technologies.
-Agenda Item
The agenda item addresses the illicit and unlawful use of arms within the context of the Israel–Palestine conflict, with a specific focus on its impact on Palestinian children. The discussion aims to examine the sources and distribution of unauthorized weaponry, violations of international humanitarian and human rights law, and the failure of existing arms control mechanisms. The committee will work towards developing comprehensive strategies to prevent further harm to children and to strengthen international frameworks ensuring accountability and protection in conflict zones.
"We owe our children – the most vulnerable citizens in any society – a life free from violence and fear."
